Happy Valentine’s Day!

15 02 2010

Yesterday was both Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year: The Year of the Tiger. Ergo, an exciting day!

Chris and I went back home this weekend to celebrate with our respective families. Friday was the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony. It was a great opening ceremony, though when they were attempting to light up the torch cauldron, one of the tiers holding up the cauldron didn’t come out, so the 4 torch bearers had to stand there for +2 minutes looking super awkward.

Coincidentally, Sunday also happened to be Chinese New Year. Happy Year of the Tiger, everyone!

Chris and I returned to school Sunday around 1. He had badminton tryouts at 2 and I went to find a friend to watch the movie “Valentine’s Day”, starring Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Kathy Bathes, Bradley Cooper, Patrick Dempsey, Jennifer Garner, Ashton Kutcher, George Lopez, i.e. an ensemble cast. Anyways, it was a good movie to watch on Valentine’s Day with a girlfriend. We came back around 8:30ish, and I parked my car and walked back home.

What awaited me was truly awesome.

Chris had prepared a table and on the table were beautiful, colorful daisies, a bottle of Martin’s Rake Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2008, a pan of lasagna, and strawberries dipped in chocolate. It looked so amazing! And the food was delicious. Lasagna was fantastic, the strawberries dipped in chocolate were divine, the flowers looked gorgeous, and the wine was so complimentary. It was a fantastic Valentine’s Day dinner. I also gave Chris my present to him: a Snoopy Valentine’s Day card and a Claiborne tie clip.

Chris bought two boxes of strawberries, so I still have another box and I reheated the chocolate, so there’s still some left! And as for now, we are going to eat dinner. Bon appetit!

Happy Valentine’s Day 2010 + Happy Chinese New Year!
